Tourism

Tourism is one of the most significant factors for industry in Cuxhaven and its surrounding region. The well-established holiday destination situated between the North Sea, the Elbe and the Weser benefits from a number of different regional collaborative projects, initiatives and funding programmes.

More to see than just the sea

The range of tourist activities on offer is greatly influenced by the region's position on the coast. Countless tourists are drawn to the region every year for a chance to let off some steam on the 1,200 km network of cycle routes or simply to indulge in a spot of relaxation and recuperation at one of the six certified wellness and spa centres. Cuxhaven's Nordseeheilbad is one of Germany's largest spa resorts.

 

Each year the resort is visited by almost 7 million overnight guests and 8 million day visitors. Such high demand yields a net turnover of over €675 million euros a year, with the tourism industry also providing many of those living in the region with job opportunities in the service sector.

 

The Cuxhaven Economic Development Agency is responsible for destination marketing and management throughout the region and also acts as a reliable point of contact for small and medium-sized businesses as well as entrepreneurs and start-ups in the tourism sector.

Exploring Cuxland
